January update and we are already over half way through the first month of the year. Time flies, no time for sitting around!

Things have gotten off to a good start for the year here. The new look website is now operational. A few tweaks still to be done but by and large it seems to be working OK.

Plans for the “boat in 1-month” are also well underway.  The center section of the hull in the original boat was an experiment that didn’t work as planned and was rebuilt after she was launched. Rather than modify the original hull I am creating a new hull model, based on the original but with a totally redesigned bottom based on a hull shape that proved very successful on 2 other boats I built. I am also incorporating all the things I learned since launching the original boat, into these new plans.

I hope to have the plans available for purchase on this site within the coming month. The plans will include all the information you need to build your boat. Including a shopping list of all the items required. Fully dimensioned drawings that you can transfer onto plywood to trace and cut out all the hull panels and bulkheads. Just like making a dress from patterns (not that I have made a dress..), the parts once cut, will just fit together to form the final shape. There will be plenty of photos, descriptions and tips to help you along the way.  Here are few images of the boat taking shape on the computer right now.

I am excited about finally bringing this project to life. These little ply boats are quick and easy to build, light weight and are fast craft. Not only are they cheap to build, you get similar performance to an aluminium tinny, with a motor half the size, saving on the motor and fuel costs. They are also a lot of fun to build as well. If you have eager kids in the house it makes a great family project.

Leave a comment or send an email if you would like to be notified. I know some of you have been waiting a long time, but we are nearly there.  You can see the video and details of the original boat here.

I hope your year is off to a good start.

Regards

Tim
